... that is what Danger Mouse did. After his label EMI refused to release his latest effort Dark Night Of The Soul.
Danger Mouse is a Grammy-nominated producer behind such acts as Gnarls Barkley, Danger Doom, Gorillaz and one of my favourites: the controversial Grey Album.
For legal reasons he was not allowed to release the music, but DM came up with a better idea, by releasing the book of 100 photographs shot by famed director David Lynch and an empty CD-R, with a note saying "For Legal Reasons, enclosed CD-R contains no music. Use it as you will” hinting to fans that he wants them to download the leaked album and burn it to the CD-R. For more info and to listen to the album go here.
