I've Created a Monster...

As the title suggests, I have built a beast of a computer. It did cost me an arm and a leg, but it is worth every penny spent on it. The photos don't do it any justice, but I still uploaded em', here are they along with the specification I used:

- Intel Core i7 920 D0 Stepping (OC to 3.5Ghz)
- Antec TruePower New 650W
- ATI Radeon HD 5870
- Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD3R
- Corsair XMS3 6GB (3x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800 (1600MHz) Tri-Channel 9-9-9-24
- Antec Nine Hundred Two (902) Case
- Samsung SpinPoint F3 1TB
- 1TB External HDD
- Razer DeathAdder Mouse
- Saitek Eclipse 2 keyboard (not 3)
- Titan TTC-NK85TZ Fenrir CPU Cooler (Socket LGA1366)
- Asus u3s6 PCI-e USB 3 and Sata 3 (6Gb/s)
- Asus Xonar DX PCI-e sound card
- Random TV tuner
- Xbox 360 Wireless Controller Receiver

Right after I applied the thermal compound.

First phase testing, to make sure all the main components are working.

Everything installed and the wires are being done as neatly as the case allows.

The back panel; where I hide all the wires.

Bill Gates as the DOOM Guy

Nerd Alert:

While doing 'research' for my presentation I came across this gem. This was recorded for the 1996 Computer Game Developer's Conference, DirectX 2 was the biggest headline back then, anyway, the good ol' Mr Gates stars in this video.

Go DJ...

DJ Hero

After the successes of both Guitar Hero and Rock Band, the market for music games is expanding, here comes a new game for fake musicians (I am one).

If you've gotten bored of pretending to be in a band, now it is your turn to be the life of the party. DJ Hero is coming out on October 27th this year and it already secured Eminem, Jay-Z and DJ Shadow to work on the project. The game let you do some interesting mixes from a wide variety of genres and decades.

I personally can't wait for this, it sounds like a lot of fun, but that is not all. Eminem and Jay-z are doing a Co-op cut for the game... I have been waiting for this shit since 'Renagade'

DJ Hero Controller

Anyway, the game comes with this turntables shaped controller, does not look half bad. Now I shall leave you with the trailer after the jump.

Ozzie Checks in ... The clean room

Clean Room

I have exams* between 22nd May - 5th June, this could affect the frequency of my posts. In preparation for these exams, in a classic Osman fashion, I did nothing so far. but I did spend hours cleaning my room today; it was filthy. I organised all my notes, books, kicks, clothes, magazines and toys. Now it is a better working environment, so I might decide to start revision tomorrow.

If you are wondering where the dirty magazines at? they are in a different stash. Speaking of porn stashes:
"My girlfriend used to think magazines like GQ and Maxim were pornographic - until she found my real stash." Jimmy Carr

* AMO has exams too.

Stuff I bought recently: 22" LG W2252TQ LCD Monitor

The award winning 22" screen is a joy to own, and suprisngly is very cheap. It has been Custom PC's 22" screen of choice since it got released and nothing so far managed to come near its amazing perfomance/cost ratio.

I bought it from Aria for a reasonable £152.89.

Little Big Planet x Gradius

So Little Big Planet is coming out this week, my copy should arrive on Wednesday.

However, The Japanese (I love em') had the game for a while now, and a Japanese PSN member named RRR30000 created the entire first level from Gradius, it is too good. Hats off to this dude. The level name is Libidius.jp, and it's available for play and rating, go download it kids.

Update 04/11/2008 : My copy arrived today, I'll test it tonight and then tell you what I think of it.

Ozzie checks in...

Photobucket

It has been a while since I posted, so this is my attempt at getting my post count up.

I have been ill for the past day or so(and still ill). My University work is piling up and I have been neglecting THE blog for a while now. Why?

Well, firstly, I got the new Pro Evolution Soccer on Thursday and it is a known fact that I spent more than half of my teenage years on the game. I will write about it later.

Secondly, there is no 'secondly' that is all I done on the weekend! (I did go out on Saturday though, I'm not that SAD.)

Finally, I'm going to do some work now, I'm planning on an all-nighter, if I do finish work (impossible), I will write a thing or two, it seems like Dizzy been doing all the work around here.

Ozzie out...

P.S. I skipped my first lecture today :-)

I am 8-bit 08

'I am 8-bit' 2008 art exhibition was held in Los Angeles again. The show's theme involves over 100 artists reinterpreting their favourite old-school video game characters in a variety of mediums, including paintings, plush, sculpture, and even interactive pieces. I-Mockery attended the 2008 show as as well, and posted Hundreds of pictures in their website. So I'm going to borrow (rob) some more of my favourites from the 2008 show and post it here.

Nintendo DSi

Photobucket
A while back Moose had an article about a new Nintendo DS in the works, well it's finally official the new Nintendo DSi will be released in Japan in November and will be available worldwide by Summer next year. The new DSi is more than just a widescreen verion, it's actually quite a big step up from the DS. It replaces the GBA slot for a much more convenient SD card slot for storing music or videos. It also features two camera's, one for taking pictures and a lower quality web cam. However their are some draw backs the new DSi won't support GBA games as a result of the updates. One thing that isn't alarming though is the price, which estimated to be the same as the old DS.

Wait For It....FIELD TRIP!!! : Little Big Planet edition

Field Trip

So first things first, this whole field trip business. Well if you were unaware Abdizzy,Ozzie and Moose are actually real people, one day we got together and decided we should blog about our life and in our life we go out and do cool stuff at times hence the 'field trip'.

Now back to the point. Our field trip this time around was at Little Big Planet. For those unaware of what little big planet is, it's basically a video game made by Media Molecule Exclusively for Sony's PlayStation 3, in which you can create your very own characters, levels, boss and pretty much everything else. It's quite the break through in gaming, Sony is so proud of the game it's been exhibiting the game at special locations around the UK (A month a half before launch). We decided to go and check it out and we were more than impressed the game, it is actually really fun and unlike many platform games(such as mario, sonic etc) it's very fun to play in a group.

To find out more about little big planet visit there site and don't be afraid to go actually check out the exhibition in Manchester city centre right in front of Piccadilly Gardens.

Opening Times: Mon - Sun 10am – 6pm

Location: Piccadilly Plaza, City Tower, Unit E2B, Manchester, M1 4BD

Widescreen DS on the way?

Photobucket

I was never a big fan of the nintendo handhelds (Not a big fan of the PSP either). I dunno why but i just could never get myself to sit down and play them. However this new design has caught my eye. It looks like Nintendo has given up on producing crappy updates of the DS and instead have chosen to do something major with it.

Photobucket

We don't know if its an update or an actual DS 2.....
Props to ign.com for the news
