The West Wing

I just started watching this show 2 weeks ago and I'm hooked. I've been spending my time revising, sleeping and watching the west wing (4 seasons and 10 episodes in 2 weeks!). Its a behind-the-scenes look at the Oval Office through the eyes of a group of White House staff led by President Josiah Bartlet a.k.a. Martin sheen (top 5 actors of all time).

And The Winner Is....

Daniel Merriweather

Thanks to Wikipedia, Moose and I managed to secure two 12" vinyls of Daniel Merriweather's single 'Change Feat. Wale' from our friends at Monkeyboxing, both copies were signed by Merriweather himself. We might not be big fans of Merriweather's music but we are fans of Wale's, so we will try to get it signed by him and Mark Ronson too (Mark Ronson produced it.).

Anyway, we posted the video of this track back in December, if you missed it click here.

Go DJ...

DJ Hero

After the successes of both Guitar Hero and Rock Band, the market for music games is expanding, here comes a new game for fake musicians (I am one).

If you've gotten bored of pretending to be in a band, now it is your turn to be the life of the party. DJ Hero is coming out on October 27th this year and it already secured Eminem, Jay-Z and DJ Shadow to work on the project. The game let you do some interesting mixes from a wide variety of genres and decades.

I personally can't wait for this, it sounds like a lot of fun, but that is not all. Eminem and Jay-z are doing a Co-op cut for the game... I have been waiting for this shit since 'Renagade'

DJ Hero Controller

Anyway, the game comes with this turntables shaped controller, does not look half bad. Now I shall leave you with the trailer after the jump.

Brother Ali - The Truth Is Here (EP)

Brother Ali
As promised, the post about Brother Ali's latest album.

It was released with a DVD that was packed with live performances from his 2008 "The Truth is Here" tour, this EP is a little different sounding than his LPs which shows the amount of talent Ali posses. From the first track the album grabs you and demands your full attention, the production is crisp and clear this time and matches Ali's voice and passion filled flow pretty well. Lyrically Ali is up-close and personal telling some good stories, teaching or just having fun.

My favourite cut from the album is 'Talkin my shit', check it out below along with two other standout cuts.

This is one solid little package, it is a must have if you are a true hip hop fan.

Sneakers in Summer 09

1)Air Jordan V “Toro Bravo” Red
I'm buying these on Saturday so I will have some pics up then. They will cost £90 and there are only 11 pairs in Manchester so I need to get there early.

2) Air Jordan V White Patent/Dark Army
These will be released sometime in June so I will need to get my money right by then. I'm loving the colours, stitching and the whole dirty look to them.

3) Parra X Nike air max 1
My sources tell me these are going to be released on the 3rd week of July. They will cost £90 and will sell out faster than you can say "YO MTV Raps!".

Cold War Kids "I've seen enough" (Interactive Video)

Cold war kids have always been one of my top indie bands and they have come up with one of the dopest videos of the last decade. You can choose what instrument each member is playing and play/stop each member. So if you only want Nathan (lead singer) then you stop the rest and you will only hear his voice along with what instrument you've selected. To watch it click here

Mo checks in...

Hows it going peeps? I go by the name(s) of Mo a.k.a Black Mo a.k.a Negro Mo a.k.a your girlfriend's boyfriend. My main men o2 and Mosab ‘the moose’ asked me to be a guest blogger for the week so I thought I’d pay respect to Mr Dylan Mills known by his stage name Dizzee Rascal.

I’m a big Dizzee fan, it’s been great watching Dizzee on the rise as he makes the switch over from the grime scene to the more mainstream vibe which at the end of the day is where the real money is but at the same time not losing his rascal delivery style (Put it this way I doubt we’ll be seeing him messing with autotune). It was a big moment when he won the Mercury music prize for his debut album ‘Boy in da corner’ which put him out to the wider audience. The album itself gave birth to his characteristic flow that marks him out from his contemporaries with witty lyrics that gave you a picture about where he’s from.

He didn’t waste much time by releasing ‘Showtime’ a year later. It picks up the pace from the first album and has a much more party feel to it, ‘Stand up tall’ is a definite highlight. ‘Maths and English’ he pretty much leaves the grime behind apart from a reference in one or two tracks and with appearances from Lily Allen and Alex Turner it sees Dizzee goes out in a different direction and he seems to get that balance right.

On the Jonathan Ross show a couple of weeks ago he held his own amongst the MILF’s of Loose women and Tom Hanks which is unlike his quite funny but cringe worthy interview after Barack Obama’s election win.

For me Dizzee has shown the way for other UK artists to follow if they want to be taken for more than just another one dimensional ‘Grime MC’ and from the looks of things Chipmunk and Tinchy Stryder could be on a similar upward trend. For me Dizzee Rascal is by far the UK’s number one MC.

Signing out

Mo.

Brand Profile: Gorumet

Gourmet is a fairly new brand from LA. I don't really know a lot about them apart from that they're Italian and all three of the guys in charge worked for street wear brands before starting gourmet. They do shoes, Tees and jewelery.

This is what they say about their brand:
"Gourmet is a brand that truly defies categorization. Above All, cornerstones influences are Italian and Italian-American culture. From old World Italy and its grand tradition of men's wear tailoring with luxe fabrics and trends that have driven the fashion market, to Italians in the metropolitan enclaves across the USA at batting cages and local giglio feasts wearing sweatpants with an undeniable swagger; Gourmet is all of the above.

For Years, refined Italian and casual all-American men's looks have been imitated, rehashed, reworked and reinterpreted season after season but never before have the collided as they do in gourmet. This is a new, revolutionary, remixed laid back luxury inspired by Italian culture, food, religion and music. Gourmet is both high and low, style forward yet familiar, chic and Gauche. Each Piece - From footwear to apparel - Possesses an understated complexity that underlies gourmet's high concept DNA."
Prices range from 70-175 but totally worth it. I might get me the green high tops in a couple of months because i have a very long list of Sneakers that i need to buy.

More Pics after the Jump.

Fuck the industry...

... that is what Danger Mouse did. After his label EMI refused to release his latest effort Dark Night Of The Soul.

Danger Mouse is a Grammy-nominated producer behind such acts as Gnarls Barkley, Danger Doom, Gorillaz and one of my favourites: the controversial Grey Album.

For legal reasons he was not allowed to release the music, but DM came up with a better idea, by releasing the book of 100 photographs shot by famed director David Lynch and an empty CD-R, with a note saying "For Legal Reasons, enclosed CD-R contains no music. Use it as you will” hinting to fans that he wants them to download the leaked album and burn it to the CD-R. For more info and to listen to the album go here.

Ozzie Checks in ... The clean room

Clean Room

I have exams* between 22nd May - 5th June, this could affect the frequency of my posts. In preparation for these exams, in a classic Osman fashion, I did nothing so far. but I did spend hours cleaning my room today; it was filthy. I organised all my notes, books, kicks, clothes, magazines and toys. Now it is a better working environment, so I might decide to start revision tomorrow.

If you are wondering where the dirty magazines at? they are in a different stash. Speaking of porn stashes:
"My girlfriend used to think magazines like GQ and Maxim were pornographic - until she found my real stash." Jimmy Carr

* AMO has exams too.

Eminem BBC

You are probably sick of my Eminem coverage, guess what, it is not over. This post contains an overdose of Emienm material.

Lets start with the bonus tracks from Relapse, there are two, and they are too good to be leftovers, they are in fact better than some of the tracks that made the final cut. Anyway, listen to them and judge em' yourself.

Eminem was on Jonathan Ross last night, you can watch the interview and performance in BCC iPlayer, if you are not from the UK I included a youtube video after the jump.

Eminem on German Talk Show

This interview is hilarious. The German host is on fucking drugs but Eminem just goes along with him. Shady looks fresh man and he's seen wearing a kaws tee and some jordan's (he's sponsored by them).
I think his album is my top album of 2009 with K'naan coming in second.

Ozzie checks in... The summer ball & Eminem!

Ozzie here, giving you a general update.

Let's start with items bought recently, as I'm trying to keep a low profile with the money situation, not a lot been happening in that department. But I did buy some Sperry Bahama shoes from Wood and our friend Rosie purchased a Reebok girls kicks from there too.

Anyway, last night was my University Summer Ball, I linked up with the rest of the geek squad for a decent night at the Manchester Hilton. The main highlights of the night were my unfortunate ironing accident with my shirt just an hour before the event which caused a rushed journey to Zara and having to change there, in order to make it on time; it worked. Also, we were introduced to a wild side of my Spanish friend Eduardo, it was fun.

After I arrived home, I secured a copy of Em's new album. And after listening to it all morning and afternoon today, I can confidently say that it is excellent. The production on most tracks (if not all) is mind blowing, no surprises here since the good doctor handled all the production. Eminem does his best to do all the beats justice, and it is a success. His wordplay is amazing resulting in an album that makes you laugh, think or just bop your head to the beat, sometimes all three at once. The hooks are all done by Em himself, this is a big plus (I hate RnB hooks). And apart from 50 cent and Dre there is no more guests on the album.

To sum up, life is good and Em's album is fire and this not just fanboy me talking.

Air Jordan 5 (V) - Toro Bravo Pack

Bull

My boyfriend Moose loves these...and now so do I.
Read what kickonfire said on them:
"We’ve brought you guys information on the Air Jordan 5 (V) - Raging Bull Pack, but now have a new picture to tease you with. Also, we are learning that they are being called the Toro Bravo pack, inspired by the Toro Bravo, a special bull bred for the Running of the Bulls in Pamplona, Spain.

The pack consists of two colorways in the classic Air Jordan 5 (V) model. One sports a red suede upper along with a black midsole and 3M material on the tongue while the other features a black 3M base along with black laces and red accents. They come in a customized package, inspired by the wooden gates that separate the bull from his victims. Look for them to hit retailers May 30th for $310."
